Sabres trade rebuild helping to salvage a nightmare of a season

They have already been outscored by 88 goals and had a 14-game losing streak over an entire calendar month where they did not earn a single point in the standings. The season is a lost cause, and has been since October. They shed players that have no long-term value to them (and in some cases, helped get them into the position they are currently in) and add an in-his-prime 23-year-old goal-scoring forward. It's a win-win. And because the team has made an effort to stockpile more first-and second-round picks than any other team in the NHL over the past few years, they had that extra trade chip to throw in without having to give up their own first-rounder.Kane may have his flaws, and it should be a concern that his production Stephon Tuitt Jersey  has declined acro s the board at an age when it should be getting better, but even with all of that he is a top-line goal-scorer in the league. Finney Jersey potential here).But they are still likely to open next season with a forward unit that includes one of McDavid or Eichel, Kane, , and Sam Reinhart (the No. 2 overall pick in last year's draft and suddenly the forgotten man in their prospect pool).If nothing else, that is a darn good starting point for when it comes to building something meaningful in Buffalo. And if that ends up happening two or three years down the line the only thing anybody will remember about the 2014-15 Sabres is the series of moves that helped turn around their rebuild and not the dreadful hockey that was played on the ice.
